The NDCO is sponsoring three great initiatives in Gippsland for International Day of People with Disability.
Leongatha International Day Street Party
The Rural Access program at South Gippsland Shire Council, in partnership with Yooralla First Base and South Gippsland Specialist School will be holding a Street Party to celebrate International Day. The free party will involve a music performance, art display, sporting demonstrations, games and free food.
When: Friday 2 December, 11:30am to 2:30pm
Where:Smith Street (in front of the Leongatha Council offices & across from Safeway)
Each year the street party is organized with increasing responsibility and choice to local people with disability who lead the planning and decision making around the day.

International Day of People with Disability Beach Festival - Inverloch
The South Coast Access Alliance (SCAA) will celebrate International Day of People with a Disability on Saturday 3rd December by holding a beach festival across a number of sites along the Inverloch foreshore.
The day is designed to raise awareness of beach access issues faced by people with a disability in our community, and to provide people with disability and others the opportunity to participate in a range of inclusive and accessible come ‘n’ try beach related activities.
Free activities will include fishing, beach volleyball, kiting, surf lessons, sand castle building, rock pool discovery, sailability, kayaking and windsurfing.
The day will also feature the presentation of the ‘Welcoming and Inclusive Club of the Year Award’ winner.

Talking Trains – Sale to Melbourne
Rural Access and Lets GET Connected Wellington Shire are organizing a V/Line train trip to Melbourne from Sale. This trip assists 6 people gain independent travel skills to enable them to travel to any destination between Sale and Melbourne for education, advocacy, recreation or employment.
At Spencer Street participants visit Travellers Aid to learn about their service and meet the staff. Participants will be provided with digital cameras to take photos to capture their travel experience and assist Rural Access & Transport Connections projects to determine ways that V/line service/travel can be improved to maximize their independent/future travel.
